Did you know?
That according to research done by Universal McCann:
- 394 million people watch video clips online
- 346 million read blogs/weblogs

Workshop Details
The edSocialMedia Nashville Bootcamp features leading social media strategists and practitioners in the independent school community. Come and be part of the dialog as we explore and discover the potential of social media to transform the way schools communicate and educate.
Our sessions will explore the what and why of social media to lay a foundation of understanding and common language before digging in to topics like blogs, podcasts, video, Facebook, and Twitter. Attendees will see examples of how schools are using social media to further their advancement and educational missions.
Morning sessions will include:
- Travis Warren on how social media has evolved and why it matters
- Ernest Koe on blogging and micro-blogging
- Peter Baron on podcasting and video
- Lorrie Jackson on starting a social media campaign at your school
The afternoon will be dedicated to putting what you’ve learned into practice. Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
Working with your team:
- generate a minimum of 8 tweets spread out over two hours posted to edsocialmediaBC Twitter page.
- write two, well crafted articles for the blog (between 450 – 750 words)
- create a photoset in Flickr of 10 photos
- post a brief (around 2 minutes) video for YouTube

You are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop with wireless network connectivity, and a digital camera or digital-camcorder if you have them.

1:00 – 1:15 Go over afternoon mission, 3 groups, each will be responsible for generating content on Twitter, the WP Blog, Flickr and YouTube
Your Mission: Create content in 2 hours that speaks to the following prompt:
“A Day in the Life of a School at the start of Summer Break” How will you capture the essence of the school using social media tools? Each group must:
- generate 8 tweets spread out over two hours.
- write two, well crafted articles for the blog (between 450 – 750 words)
- create a photoset in Flickr of 10 photos
- post a brief (under 2 minutes) video for YouTube
