The edSocialMedia Bootcamp offers a one-day, practical application of social media tools in a school environment. The workshop provides an in-depth, hands-on introduction to social media, complete with an opportunity to create and share content through edSocialMedia’s practice lab site and other social media channels. The morning presentation will be given by special guest Jon Moser of Finalsite.

Who’s invited? K-12 or higher-ed administrators and staff in Admissions, Marketing, Communications, External-affairs, Advancement, Alumni/Development, or teachers. Any and all education-based professionals are welcome.

Workshop Format
The workshop provides an in-depth introduction to social media for school leaders and administrators, complete with an opportunity to create and share content through edSocialMedia’s practice lab site (http://lab.edsocialmedia.com) and other social media channels such as YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, etc.
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
- generate a minimum of eight tweets throughout the day, including #edsocialmedia
- write two, well-crafted blog entries with proper tagging
- create, tag and organize a full photoset of 10 or more photos in Flickr
- produce and post a brief video on YouTube

edSocialMedia Trainers
Madeline Senkosky is the ESM Community Manager and has become the primary point of contact for edSocialMedia. She facilitates and organizes edSocialMedia’s events and presence, including the social media channels. Prior to working for ESM, she worked as the Director of Publications at Stratton Mountain School, a ski and snowboard academy in southern Vermont. At SMS, she guided and managed the school’s communication outreach, including social media integration and web management. Additionally, she designed and instructed a Digital Media curriculum that taught students new media skills, such as creation of a personalized online portfolio. Madeline graduated from the University of Missouri Journalism School.
Peter Baron is the founder and president of AdmissionsQuest, an online resource for families who are working through the independent school admission process. Peter attended Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH. He earned his BA from Skidmore College and MAT from Tufts University. Peter’s teaching experiences include Historic Neighborhoods, Pine Ridge School and Wolfeboro, The Summer Boarding School. Peter blogs at AQ’s Boarding School Blog and edSocialMedia.com, and hosts the regular podcast series, Boarding School Podcast.
