Social Media Bootcamp in Boston area for Junior Schools
The edSocialMedia Bootcamp in the Boston area for junior schools will bring together colleagues to discuss and formulate best practices for schools with students in pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade (and beyond). The morning will begin with a presentation by William (Bill) Stites, Director of Technology for The Montclair Kimberley Academy (MKA), where he engages and educates faculty of the social media best practices for schools. He will lead a discussion in the morning surrounding topics pertinent to any educator with students under the age of 13.
The later part of the day will shift to a hands-on scenario, as participants practice their knowledge with practical objectives in social media tools.
Each participant will join a team to create and share content through social media channels, focusing on what works for schools with a younger demographic.

Who’s invited? K-12 or higher-ed administrators and staff in Admissions, Marketing, Communications, External-affairs, Advancement, Alumni/Development, or teachers. Any and all education-based professionals are welcome.
Location and parking directions: The event will take place in the Lower School Library in the Mary MacPhereson Lower School. Parking is available in the gym parking lot, and the entrance is directly across from Fearing Avenue.
Requirements
Every workshop participant must have a computer or tablet with wireless network connectivity. Participants should also bring a useable smartphone, camera or camcorder to supplement their efforts. Charger cords are also highly recommended.
edSocialMedia Trainers
Keynote Speaker:
William Stites is the Blogger in Chief of edSocialMedia.com where he keeps the content fresh and the contributors motivated. Outside of edSocialMedia, Bill is the Director of Technology for The Montclair Kimberley Academy (MKA) in Montclair, NJ. He has been at MKA since 1994 and has taught Third Grade in addition to working in the Technology Department. He became the Director of Technology in 1999. Bill has also served as an advisor for the New Jersey Educational Computer Cooperative since 2001 and has been a presenter at NAIS conferences throughout the years. He won the Leading Edge Award for Technology in 2004 for MKA’s online faculty development program. Bill blogs at edSocialMedia.com.
Madeline Senkosky is the ESM Community Manager and has become the primary point of contact for edSocialMedia. She facilitates and organizes edSocialMedia’s events and presence, including the social media channels. Prior to working for ESM, she worked as the Director of Publications at Stratton Mountain School, a ski and snowboard academy in southern Vermont. At SMS, she guided and managed the school’s communication outreach, including social media integration and web management. Additionally, she designed and instructed a Digital Media curriculum that taught students new media skills, such as creation of a personalized online portfolio. Madeline graduated from the University of Missouri Journalism School.
